DESCRIPTION:
Floor hardener (EMALITE) is a specially graded emery grit (mineral aggregate) which admixed with cement , to provide a high abrasion and wear resistant hardest surface to flooring’s and paving, which will remain dust proof, waterproof and grease proof. It does not affect the setting times or other properties of the cement, with which it is mixed.
FEATURES OF FLOOR HARDENER :
-
- Provides built in wear resistance and produces high abrasion resistant floor surface.
- Extreme surface density resists oil and water penetration.
- May be used in open and continuously wet areas.
- Non? rusting and easy maintenance.
USES:
By the use of this material (emalite) the top surfaces of flooring and paving can be made wear resistant and dust proof. It is ideally suited for use in all types of industrial floors, which are subjected to heavy trucking and load movement. Floor hardener can withstand the impact load due to movement of heavy load over the floor topping. It is specially recommended in heavy engineering factories or as workshop floor toppings, in warehouses and gangways where trolleys with metal wheels or fork lifts carrying heavy load frequently .
n

PACKING :
FLOOR HARDENER (EMALITE) is available in 25 kg. HDPE / Gunny bag.
SHELF LIFE :
If stored in unopened sealed bag a shelf life of approx. one year could be expected.
METHOD OF USE OF FLOOR HARDENER:
MIXING PROCESS
FLOOR HARDENER is dry mixed in the ratio of 2 : 1 with cement broadcast evenly over the surface of freshly laid concrete and then trowelled to an uniform and smooth finish. HARD SEAL liquid surface hardener should be applied to the finish surface. (The application should be as detailed in HARD SEAL data sheet).
APPLICATION DATA:
Floor concreting The floor concrete should be structurally sound and placed in accordance with good concrete practices. The Water : Cement ratio should be kept to a minimum consistency with the need to produce a fully compacted concrete without excess water coming to the surface. Particular care must be taken at the corners and edges of the bays, hand ramming and firm trowelling being carried out to ensure that the level can be maintained throughout the subsequent trowelling operations.
Mixing & Application: 100 kg of EMALITE FLOOR HARDENER and 50 kg of Portland Cement should be thoroughly dry mixed on a clean, flat surface. Water must not be added. Always use full bags of FLOOR HARDENER to ensure consistent grading. Any FLOOR HARDENER / Cement mix left over can be stored for use the next day providing it is kept in air tight containers. Any of the mix left exposed must not be used, as air setting of the cement will have occurred.
The FLOOR HARDENER EMALITE / Cement mix should be broadcast in two equal stages, evenly over the surface of the freshly laid concrete as soon as the surface water has evaporated. Immediately after each stage of broadcasting of EMALITE / Cement mixture the first trowelling should be carried out, either by hand or by means of a power float. When the surface has sufficiently stiffened a second trowelling should be given to close any pores and remove any undulation in the surface. This should be followed by a final hand trowelling to remove any disc marks. The floor must be thoroughly cured for a minimum period of 10 days.
DOSAGE:
This varies from 3 kg ? 9 kg per m2 depending on type of floor as follows :
-
- Moderate duty = 3 kg /m 2
- Heavy duty = 6 kg /m 2
- Extra Heavy duty = 9 kg /m 2
Note: The amounts are for FLOOR HARDENER EMALITE only; it need to be mixed with 50% Portland Cement before you apply it to the floor surface.
PRECAUTIONS:
-
- Always store in dry place and in unopened sealed bag .
- Proper surface preparation is the essence of proper EMALITE Floor Topping. Dry cement should not be sprinkled over the wet surface for finishing purpose & final trowelling should not be done until the initial set has taken place.
- The EMALITE topping should be kept damp with wet gunny bags for minimum period of 5?7 days. The EMALITE topping should be laid by a very skilled mason/workman who has knowledge about laying this type of floor topping. For finishing purposes, a steel trowel should always be used.
SAFETY:
Use normal safety precautions. Wear rubber hand gloves, safety shoes and safety goggles while using and handling the product. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of accidental contact with eyes, wash with plenty of water and seek medical treatment immediately.
